THE VAGABONDS

CHS-Dance-Band-Vagabonds-Tom-Elliott-300x253To the memory of "THE VAGABONDS." Led by Bob Radamacher. There were others in this band over the years, Bill Oden, class of 56 played tenor and bass sax, also Bob's younger brother (first name slips me) towards the last years. What fun we had. One of the best hobbies in High School was playing my trombone. This picture was of the Vagabonds under the leadership of Bob Radamacher (?) class of 1954. This picture shows from left to right: Jim Evans, drums, class of 1954; (do not remember name) on bass;Don Dreesbach (1955) tenor sax; (do not remember name) class of 1954 on tenor sax; Bob Radmacher, class of 1954 on trumpet; Tom Elliott, class of 1956 on Trombone; Adrian Castorini, class of 1954 (?), piano. We payed at most sock hops etc. for several years and had a great time. I remember watching my dates SIT by the band stand all night while I played on for the crowd. Our theme song was "Dream" and it usually was a nice one to quit on as it was slow and "schmaltzy" and left all the dancers clinging onto one another. This was not like today's music, we played Glenn Miller and jazz and Dixieland (my Favorite). We payed at a school assembly and one song was a takeoff of jaz, about 4 chord only, with a wild drum beat, and the crowd in the front two rows yanked up the seats and started to dance. That was the end of our playing in that school auditorium. NOT OUR FAULT, I saw Bob Locket pulling up the seats.
